Best Time to Go to the Royal Hideaway

Assuming that your reason for visiting the Royal Hideaway in Playacar is for some sunshine, relaxation and taking advantage of the 6 swimming pools, you’ll probably want as much sunshine (and as little rain) as possible.

The weather in Playa del Carmen doesn’t really ever get cold. In the “coldest” month of the year, January, the average temperature is still a perfectly lovely 23 degrees celcius. However, if you visit Mexico’s Caribbean coast in the rainy season, you risk a bit of a washout. And, as with many other resorts, there’s really a limit as to what you can do at the Royal Hideaway when going outdoors is off the cards. So:

  • The least rainy month of the year is March (when average temperatures are also a wonderful 26 degrees)
  • Rainfall is also lower than average right from January through to May
  • The rainiest months of the year are typically June to October

Of course, visiting in the rainy season (and hoping for the best!) does mean you’ll get a better deal price wise!

On the Whole

Royal Hideaway Playacar is a couple’s paradise. It’s popular with honeymooners and anniversary celebrations. It’s also a destination that offers weddings, so if you are there a week or two you will probably encounter your fair share of Royal Hideaway weddings.

This is an indulgent resort and its location in Playacar offers the best of both worlds. You’ve got the quiet peace of Playacar itself if you want to relax and enjoy the peace. But on the other hand, you’re just a mile from Playa Del Carmen. Playa del Carmen is nowhere near as large and loud as Cancun, but it’s a bustling place with a beautiful beach, plenty of shops and loads of bars, restaurants and clubs. On a side note, if you do take the trip from Royal Hideaway, Playacar, into Playa del Carmen, do check out La Portena. It’s food served from a tiny kitchen behind a hatch on a street but was one of the best steaks I’ve ever had!

Enjoy your break!
